Glubokoye eyes global sales expansion
Belarus dairy producer Glubokoye Milk Cannery has revealed that it is ready to explore new markets in 2012.
The company has planned to ship a pilot lot of canned milk to the US in the first half of 2012. The enterprise will deliver 21 tonnes of condensed milk to New York. The products are meant for immigrants from the former Soviet republics. The agreement on trial shipment of products has already been reached with an American partner.
The company will also ship products to the Republic of Benin, West Africa, and increase exports to traditional sales markets.
In 2011, the company exported about US$43 million worth of products. The insignificant growth in export is attributed to a considerable increase in exports last year. Exports make 52.8% of total sales from January to November 2011. The company also exports to Russia, Kazakhstan, Ukraine, Armenia and Israel, among other countries.
Glubokoeye produces BYR405.6 billion (US$47.9 million) worth of goods, which is 191.7% against 2010. The profitability of sales, from January to November, reaches 10.6%. Innovative products accounts for over 25% of the produce. The company invests BYR35 billion (US$4.1 million) in company growth.
The company is founded in 1966. In 1998, it is transformed into a joint stock company. It operates the Braslav production branch and the Mnyuto agricultural enterprise. The factory produces canned milk, butter, dry milk, whole-milk products, casein, and hard cheeses. The product range includes more than 120 items. The factory employs 1,100 people.
