Ministry affirms no German dioxin-infected meat, eggs in Vietnam
Vietnam has confirmed that no dioxin-infected meat and eggs are imported from Germany, according to an official from Vietnam's Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD).
Hoang Kim Giao, head of the MARD's Animal Husbandry Department, was quoted as saying that Vietnam has not allowing imports of meat and animal feed from Germany, and the rumour that German dioxin-infected food are selling in Vietnam's market is untrue.
Giao said that Vietnam imports materials for animal feed processing but not animal feed products, and only the later are detected to be infected with dioxin.
On January 11, German authorities found one pork batch infected with dioxin and that the company, Harles & Jentzsch from Schlewig-Holstein state is suspected of providing 3,000 tonnes of animal feed infected with the cancer-causing substance.
