Bulgaria closes dairy and meat farms on sanitary violation
Bulgaria's National Veterinary Service (NVS) will close 69 dairy farms and meat processing plants that do not comply with European sanitary and hygiene standards.
According to reports, the deadline for 585 companies to fulfill European requirements assigned to the European Commission (EC) expired at the end of 2009.
Veterinary authorities have established that 26 of the total 53 companies that had been granted a transition period do not fulfill the criteria and will also have to close doors.
Meanwhile, another 518 companies exporting their produce to the EU got the green light by veterinary authorities.
