China temporarily exempts Australian retailers from new seafood laws
China announced on Monday (Jan 12) that Australian retailers will be temporarily exempted from new seafood import requirements until the end of March.
China introduced new regulations on January 1, 2009 which allows seafood to be seized on arrival in China if it has not been properly certified.
Portland seafood exporter, Ellie Lane, said she is relieved and the confusion has cost her money in the lead up to Chinese New Year.
