Indonesia's Bogasari Aims to Raise Wheat Flour Output

Indonesia's Bogasari Flour Mills aims to produce 6 per cent more wheat flour than last year's production of 2.3 million tons, Indofood Sukses Makmur, which owns the flour mill, said.

Senior Vice President of Indofood Philips Purnama said the increase in production is to meet growing demand in the country and the export market.

Purnama said the company will expand its export market especially in Asia. Exports will be increased to 100,000 tons from 35,000 tons in 2004.

Of this, about 50 per cent of the exports will be in premix wheat flour to be exported to Japan.

Japan needs around 300,000 tons of premix wheat flour a year and 1100,000 tons of the consumption are imported, he said.
