Corn Prices Mostly Stable in China; Firmer in the Southern Consumption Regions (January 13, 2005)

An eFeedLink Exclusive Report

Corn prices in most parts of China were stable early this week. In the northeastern production regions, prices of corn stayed generally unchanged.

With tightness in rail transportation and increased purchasing activities, corn prices in the southern consumption regions were firmer early this week. Even though the volume of new corn shipments arriving at the northern and southern ports was significantly higher lately, corn prices remained stable due to strong demand.

In the Yellow / Huai River production regions, the increased availability of newly harvested corn from the northeastern production regions weighed on the market, causing corn prices to weaken in recent days.
