Japan purchases 800 tonnes February feed wheat

According to a Japanese government official, the country had bought 800 tonnes of feed wheat Wednesday (Jan 11) for bulk shipment by February 10, in a sell-buy-sell tender.

Japan initially sought 200,000 tonnes of feed barley and 9,000 tonnes of feed wheat but the purchase was paltry due to the lack of buyers and sellers, said an official from the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries.

The purchase was small but may be combined with another bulk contract, the official said.
