Chinese province buys more grain, sells less
East China's Jiangsu Province purchased 11.89 million tonnes of grain in the first 11 months of 2010, rising 27.2% on-year, the local customs house said Tuesday (Jan 11).
The arrivals were valued at US$4.34 billion, up 33.7% on-year.
Meanwhile, the province exported 59,000 tonnes of grain, down 40.1% year on year. The exports were valued at US$30.9 million, down 39.1%.
Most of the imports came from ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations) members, Brazil, the US and Argentina, while exports mainly went to Africa.
