China's Hunan reports increase in grain production for 2009

 
 

The total grain output of China's Hunan province exceeded 30 billion kg last year, marking the sixth consecutive year of growth for the province.

 

This data was announced in a recent press conference concerning rural work of the Hunan provincial government.

 

The per capita net income of peasants in Hunan is expected to rise 11% year-on-year to RMB4,975 (US$729) in 2009, an increase of RMB463 (US$68). The majority of peasants in Hunan still depend on wage income which accounted for 43% of all incomes peasants made last year.

 

Meanwhile, agricultural enterprises in Hunan also reaped good profits as 315 key provincial-level agricultural companies generated sales of RMB150 billion (US$22 billion), an on-year increase of 25.5%.

 

Lastyear, Hunan's production output of rapeseed reached 1.55 million tonnes, up 30.6%.
