Dairy farmers in Australian state wary on feed buying

The drought and falling milk prices has changed the feed-buying ways of dairy farmers in Australia's northern Victoria.

Farmers are buying feed for shorter periods of time to avoid getting caught by sudden price hikes.

Dairy farmers are now more cautious in buying fodder due to last year's volatile market, said Colin Peace from the Australian Fodder Industry Association.

Peace said the dairy farmers are buying only for short-term requirements, purchasing month-by-month on a hand-to-mouth basis.
