Indonesia reintroduces soy import levy

Indonesia has reintroduced a 5% import levy on soy on January 1, in order to reduce the impact of costly global prices, according to an official at the country's Industry Ministry.

The Southeast Asian country had lifted the import duty in August after drought sent US soy futures soaring. Indonesian producers of soy-based staple foods had threatened to go on strike due to the rising costs.
