Kazakhstan's 2011 grain transportation by rail exceeds target
Kazakhstan has surpassed by 28% its 2011 grain transportation plan by rail, the Kazakh Transport and Communications Ministry said on Tuesday (Jan 10).
"Grain transportation by railway in Kazakhstan hit more than 7.9 million tonnes since early 2011, which is 28% more than the target figures," the report says.
Of this volume, more than 4.5 million tonnes accounted for grain, transported from September to December 2011, which is 33% more than the target figures.
More than 2.7 million tonnes were transported for export, which is 8% more than the planned figure, and within the country - more than 1.8 million tonnes, which is twice more than the target figures.
In 2011, Kazakhstan harvested a record volume of grain during the independence years - 26 million tonnes of grain crops in net weight.
