China sees slight gain in 2011 corn export
China exported some 136,083 tonnes of corn in the whole year of 2011, up 6.8% from 2010, the General Administration of Customs (GAC) said Tuesday (Jan 10).
The monthly corn exports reached 2,023 tonnes in December 2011, a sharp decline of 70% from the same period of 2010.
Meanwhile, the director of China's State Administration of Grain said Monday that China's grain enterprises purchased 347.3 billion kilogrammes of grain in 2011, 44.8 billion kg more than in 2010.
Of the total amount, 141.8 billion kg was purchased by state-owned grain enterprises, 8.3 billion kg more than in 2010.
