Polar Genetics expands pig operations to Chile

Canada-based, Polar Genetics Group, recently appointed High Quality Genetic in Chile as the exclusive representative and multiplier for Chile, Argentina and Peru.

Polar Genetics delivered an initial shipment of 275 GP Yorkshire, Landrace and Duroc gilts and 16 GP Yorkshire, Landrace and Duroc Boars bound to Chile on March 2007. 

The breeds were sent for the multiplication of F1 parent gilts and Duroc terminal boars.

The first litters were born in October 2007. Subsequent shipments of GP stock are planned to increase and develop the system.

Just recently, Polar Genetics also announced the joint venture with Heilongjiang Senyu Animal Husbandry Industry located in the province of Heilongjiang, China.

The new company, the Heilongjiang Sino-Canadian Senyu-Polar Swine Genetics Co Lt., (Senyu-Polar Genetics), will breed both GP gilts and boars to produce and supply F1 parent gilts and terminal boars to pig producers in China.
