Russia to increase poultry output by 16 percent in 2007
 

 

Russia is expected to increase poultry production by 16.1 percent in 2007 compared to last year.

 

It would also mean an increase of more than 30 percent since 2005, according to the Rosptitsesoyuz poultry union.

 

Of the total poultry output forecast at 1.8 million tonnes in 2007, production by agribusinesses would account for 1.5-1.6 million tonnes compared to 1.265 million tonnes in 2006.

 

Production is expected to rise to 2 million tonnes in 2008, with production from agribusinesses accounting for 1.7 million tonnes.
