Brazil's chicken production to overtake beef in 2012
Brazil's chicken production will overtake the country's beef production by 2012-13, the Ministry of Agriculture said on Wednesday (January 9, 2008).
Chicken production should surge 46.8 percent to 14.41 million tonnes in 2017-18 compared to 9.8 million tonnes in 2006-07, the Estado newswire reported.
The ministry said in an press release that beef production should rise 31.5 percent to 13.9 million tonnes in the same 10-year period.
The data came from a study called Brazil and World Agricultural Projections from 2006-07 to 2017-18.
Brazil is the world's beef and chicken export leader.
