Ukraine reports African swine fever case in Luhansk region

 

 

Ukraine's Luhansk region reported a case of African swine fever (ASF), which has not been reported in the country since 2012 in Zaporizhya region, the press service of the State Veterinary and Phytosanitary Service of Ukraine reports.

  

Specialists of the State Border Service of Ukraine found dead wild boar in the river in Luhansk region on January 5, 2014, the Main Department of Veterinary Medicine in Luhansk region said. On January 6, 2014, the laboratory diagnosis and veterinary-sanitary inspection identified African swine fever as the cause of death.

 

The Main Department of Veterinary Medicine in Luhansk region as well as the State Veterinary and Phytosanitary Service of Ukraine have put the situation under constant surveillance.
