France recognises milk producer organisations

Eight French producer organisations (POs) have received recognition by the country's ministry of agriculture, following the publication of decrees in the Official Journal on January 4.

The measure is in response to new EU rules under a 'milk package' agreed on by EU governments and the European Parliament in 2012. These are aimed at boosting producers' position in the dairy supply chain and preparing for sector for life after the end of milk quotas in 2015.
