Vietnam, Northern Australia sign trade agreement for cattle
The Northern Territory of Australia Cattlemen's Association and buyers in Vietnam have recently inked a memorandum of undertaking in Nha Trang for cattle trade agreement.
The initial deal is to ship 1,500 live cattle from Darwin, followed by vessels on a regular basis, taking cattle from Australia and will be finished in feed lots in Vietnam.
While the initial numbers are small, this is ground breaking for Vietnam who is mainly pork and poultry eating nation.
Primary Industries Minister, Kon Vatskalis, said "the Territory is in a good position to supply cattle to Vietnam".
