Wisconsin to host discussions on China's US$200-million dairy project
Wisconsin will host a meeting with Heilongjiang and China World Bank procurement officials this week to give local companies a chance to bid on China's US$200-million dairy improvement project.
The dairy project, funded in part by the World Bank, is open to all bidders and will include genetics, dairy equipment, feeding equipment, management related services and environmental and waste handling technology.
State Agriculture Secretary Rod Nilsestuen said that China's dairy industry is changing rapidly and will need a modern dairy system, which offers opportunity to Wisconsin dairy companies.
The meeting will be hosted by Governor Jim Doyle's International Trade team at the Wisconsin Department of Commerce building in Madison.
Doyle has previously led trade missions to China in 2003 and 2007 which transpired into international sales opportunities such as this.
