US duty on Norwegian salmon may be lifted

The 15-year-old US punitive tax on Norwegian salmon may finally be lifted, according to the country's media.

The tax was introduced as the US industry alleged that Norwegian exporters are dumping the salmon in the US and undercutting the market. Norwegian salmon cornered most of the US market then, but in the first year the tax came into effect, export levels fell from 12,000 tonnes to 5,000 tonnes.
