Startup company provides outsourcing services to feed companies

For feed companies who do not want to handle product development, sales or any part of the production and retail process, there is now a solution.

FeedConcepts a Bainbridge, Washington-based company provides management outsourcing skills to large and small feed companies, including services in feed formulation and nutrition, product development and other services

Mike Spandern, the owner of the company, said the scale or focus of a business may not allow it to employ a nutritionist for product development and sales, thus outsourcing these services becomes an attractive option.

The company's services cover contract feed formulation and can even handle a complete project.

Target customers are manufacturers of feeds and co-products, as well as engineering companies.

The company uses a network of experts and adopts a holistic approach to the feed production process, Spandern said.

Spandern started his industry career in sales, product development and nutrition for a large feed compounder and grain elevator in northern Germany.

He joined the feed additive and ethanol business as a sales manager in Germany and now teaches a graduate class in commercial aspects of feed production.
