Brazil Soy Exports To China Undermined By Biosafety Regulations

Brazil's soy exports to China may be hindered from April 2004 as the Brazilian government has yet to enforce a biosafety law. Brazil are unable to guarantee that its shipments to China are biotech free as the Brazilian government lack the resources to inspect its soybean exports.

In Brazil, investment in soybean segregation projects is very low because of the absence of the biosafety law, and the Brazilian government is not equipped to inspect the 1.5 M truckloads of soybean transported across its borders.
