AquaChile achieves 45,989 tonnes of salmon exports in 2012
 
 

 

In the first 11 months of 2012, salmon exports from Empresas AquaChile have reached 45,989 tonnes, a figure that re-positioned the export firm as a sector leader.

 

According to information provided by InfoTrade to Aqua, Mainstream Chile was in second place, with shipments abroad of 42,030 salmon and trout tonnes valued at US$255.3 million.

 

Between January and August last year, Mainstream had displaced AquaChile as the largest salmon exporting company in the country.

 

In relation to other companies that are at the top of the exporters list, Multiexport was in third place with 24,935 tonnes worth US$196 million, and further back stood Marine Harvest Chile, with 27,937 tonnes worth US$173.6 million.

 

InfoTrade report also detailed that between January and November 2012 the country exported 434,390 tonnes of salmon per US$2,648.3 million, while in the first 11 months of 2011, Chile exported 335,665 tonnes worth US$2,594.2 million.

 

Regarding the main countries of destination for Chilean salmonids, Japan continued to lead the ranking with US$1,041.5 million purchases, which accounted for 40% of the total.

 

Chilean salmonids were exported to Russia by US$89.2 million, and Thailand, for US$70.4 million.
