Australia to build beef complex, open new cattle market

Australia may soon build a new beef facility and open a new super cattle market.

A feasibility study has been commissioned by the Red Meat Action Group (RMAG) into the proposals to build a new beef plant, boning halls, tannery and byproducts plant in the southwest of West Australia.

The beef complex will also have livestock yards for 20,000 head of cattle for live shipping on site.

Tamworth in northern New South Wales will also see the opening of a new US$11 million super cattle market within this year.

The market will be one of the biggest and most modern cattle centres in Australia, according to Barry Johnson, mayor of the Shire of Inverell.
