Pakistan hit by steep fall in chicken production

Pakistan's chicken production has slumped by around 20 percent as producers were hit with the doube-whammy of harsh winter rains causing falls in production and low prices caused by overproduction in recent months, according to Pakistan's newspaper the Business Recorder.

However, these developments are unlikely to hit the bigger producers.

Overproduction has caused prices to crash but a price-increase is expected as production fell.

Fresh poultry would arrive in the market after two months, while its existing production would be sufficient to meet the domestic demands, analysts said.
