Middle East companies to establish poultry breeding farm in Oman
Oman Flour Mills and the United Arab Emirates based IFFCO Group of Companies have entered into a joint venture to operate a poultry breeding farm in Oman, southeast from the Arabian Peninsula.
The initial plans are to set up a layer farm with 102 million laying hens which will guarantee 50,000 chickens daily for slaughter and also produce 5 million eggs weekly.
The facility will be complemented with a hatchery that will produce 50 million chicks yearly.
The plan is two -fold, first for commercial egg production, and secondly, eggs for hatchery to be fattened for chicken meat.
In Oman, the consumption per capita is 150 eggs yearly and 30 kilogrammes of chicken meat.
While in the United Arab Emirates, consumption per capita is 300 eggs yearly and 40 kilogrammes of chicken meat.
The establishment will be the largest complete poultry operation in the Middle East.
