Philippines bans poultry, poultry products from South Korea
The Philippines has banned poultry and poultry products from South Korea after reports of an outbreak of a low pathogenic strain of avian flu there, the agriculture department said on Monday (January, 7, 2008).
The ban covers domestic and wild birds and their products, including poultry meat, day-old chicks, eggs and semen originating from the country.
No import data were immediately available.
South Korea in November last year reported an outbreak of serotype H7N3 bird flue in a duck-raising farm in Yongdoo-dong, Kwangju-Jikhalsi, to the World Organization for Animal Health.
