US State Red Meat Production In November Up 14% From Last Year

 

Commercial red meat production for US State South Dakota totaled 92.6 million pounds during November 2004, up 14 percent from one year ago but down 2 percent from October, according to the South Dakota Agricultural Statistics Service.

 

Pork production was up in November from a year ago, but sheep and lamb production stayed the same, according to a news release from the service, a branch of the US Department of Agriculture.

 

Commercial hog slaughter for South Dakota totaled 444,400 head during November, compared with 377,300 head last year.

 

Commercial sheep and lamb slaughter totaled 1,100 head during November, the same as last year.

 

Commercial slaughter data for beef cattle is not published.
