Taiwan Hog Production Expected to Remain Stable in Next Few Years
Taiwanese hog farmers intend to maintain their current production capacities over the next few years, an official of the Central Taiwan Office of COA said yesterday.
He said that according to a survey conducted by the council at the end of November, there were 6.78 million hogs in Taiwan.
Only six per cent of them said they wanted to raise more hogs, and three per cent said they wanted to raise fewer hogs.
The survey also found that most of the hog farm owners are bracing for foreign competition under the framework of the World Trade Organization.
