Chile's 2014 salmon revenue rises 25%
Chile exported 506,637 tonnes of salmon in the first 11 months of this year, bringing in US$3.98 billion in revenue.
These figures represent increases of 4 and 25% year-on-year, according to a report by InfoTrade for Aqua.
The average price of salmon, between January and November 2014 was US$7.85 per kilogram, 19% more year-on-year.
In the first 11 months of 2014, Empresas AquaChile ranked first among exporters with sales of US$487 million.
Second was Cermaq Chile, with US$349 million in sales, followed by Marine Harvest, with shipments of US$332 million. Los Fiordos had US$322 million, and Multiexport, US$268 million.
Further back were Blumar, with shipments amounting to US$208 million, Camanchaca, with US$190 million, and Austral, with US$162 million.
For November 2014, the top three salmon companies in volume terms were: Empresas AquaChile at 59,825 tonnes; Cermaq at 47,538 tonnes; and Marine Harvest at 42,538 tonnes.
