Kazakhstan destroys 3,000 heads of FMD-infected cattle
 

 

About 3,000 heads of cattle infected by foot-and-mouth disease (FMD) in East Kazakhstan have been slaughtered, the department for emergency situations of East Kazakhstan province stated on Thursday (Jan 5).

 

"As of January 4 in disease nidus (Urjar, Bahti, Karabutin rural districts) 1,076 head of cattle and 1,075 head of calves infected with FMD were slaughtered," the statement says adding that vaccination was still underway.

 

Apart from this, 64,677 head of cattle, 212,062 calves and 7,175 heads of pigs were vaccinated.
