Ukraine's 2012 grain yield seen at 45 million tonnes
The grain output of Ukraine in 2012 will be at 45 million tonnes, less than over 10 million tonnes from 2011's record harvest, showed UkrAgroConsult's initial crop estimate.
Wheat crop is forecast at 14.5 million tonnes.
Even under favourable winter conditions, in the spring it will be necessary to reseed 1.5-2 million hectares of winter crops. The 2012 crop will largely depend on the accumulation of moisture in the soil over the winter period.
According to preliminary data, grain harvest in 2011 will amount to 56.4 million tonnes in clean weight. This figure is 43.5% or 17.1 million tonnes more than in 2010.
