Australia's pork prices back to rational level
Australia may see an end to the exodus of farmers from hog farming as pork prices for carcass weight are now A$3 (US$2.11) per kilogramme to A$3.15 (US$2.22) per kilogramme, and the price of food is down to a realistic level.
Australia is allowing the import of brewers' grain from the US for the first time which is also seen to boost cattle feed lots and pig farmers.
The low Australian dollar has halted the imports of cheap Canadian and Polish pork and ham into the country.
Pig farmers who have come out of the worse period in living memory, are now in a position to continue but many fell by the wayside in the last two years.
