Russia reports bluetongue outbreak
OIE has received a report of a bluetongue outbreak from the CVO of Russia's Ministry Of Agriculture And Food's Veterinary Services, Dr Nicooay Vlasov.
There has been one outbreak of bluetongue reported to the OIE. The outbreak occurred at Korshuny, Urgansky Raion and Smolenskaya Oblast. The outbreak affects a defined zone within the country.
So far, the outbreak has resulted in five cases in cattle, one case in goats and 16 cases in sheep. No deaths have been reported.
The source of the outbreak is unknown.
Control measures currently being applied include: quarantine, zoning, movement control inside the country, no vaccination, screening, no treatment, and measures to be applied include vaccination.
