Brazil's 2010 corn exports up 39%-hit record high
Brazil's corn exports reached a record volume of 10.8 million tonnes in 2010, rising 39% from 7.76 million tonnes in 2009, according to the Foreign Trade Secretariat (Secex) on Monday (Jan 3).
In December alone, the country shipped 1.925 million tonnes of corn, 55.5% more than a year earlier.
Exports in revenue hit US$2.157 billion last year, up 51.4% from US$1.424 billion in 2009. In December alone, corn sales to external clients totalled US$441.8 million.
