Pakistani investors should enter Sri Lanka's market

Sri Lanka is Asia's next economic success story and Pakistani investors are urged to enter this promising market, said Consul General of Sri Lanka in Karachi, D.W. Jinadasa.

Talking to newsmen last Thursday (Dec 30), Jinadasa said the Sri Lankan economy is expected to record growth of 8% in 2010 and its GDP per capita more than doubled to over US$2,000 in the last five years.

He said his government was keen to increase two-way trade between Pakistan and Sri Lanka, as trade volume and figures did not reflect very close and friendly ties.

He said the bilateral trade pattern is limited to traditional products and business communities of both countries should explore trade, investment opportunities available in each other's countries.

Jinadasa invited Pakistani businessmen to visit Sri Lanka to see opportunities in sectors such as agri-processing, dairy and agriculture.
