UK poultry farmers urge easing of eco-rules
UK's organic farmers want less stringent rules for their produce in order to minimise the growing crisis in the agricultural sector.
The sales of organic food, which are often more expensive, is shrinking in the UK. According to new figures, sales of organic food had dropped 10 percent from 2007, despite total food sales rising 6 percent.
As a result, many organic livestock producers are forced to sell their animals as conventionally produced animals, which cancel out the bonus for eco products.
