Agriculture in North China hit by cold wave
Snowstorms and a temperature plunge had hit a vast range of areas in China, bringing adverse effects on the agricultural production.
The Ministry of Agriculture on Sunday (Jan 3) sent seven working teams to oversee and guide agricultural work in major wheat production bases in northern China.
In order to ensure a steady production and ample supply of wheat to the market in the coming spring, experts and personnel were sent to eight provinces including Hebei, Liaoning, and Shandong, to help farmers restore the damaged greenhouses and improve water and fertiliser usages.
They were also required to provide farmers with measures against plant diseases and pests as well as to guide farmers in taking care of the winter crops so as to lay the foundation for a good summer harvest.
