Demand For Shrimp Feed In Indonesia Set To Increase
Demand for shrimp feed in Indonesia is predicted to rise by at least 25 per cent to 450,000 tons in 2005 as a result of the government decision to ban shrimp imports.
The association of shrimp feed producers said the shrimp import ban will boost production of both shrimp and shrimp feed in the country.
The association chairman Johannes Kitono said the maritime and fisheries ministry predicted that the country's production of shrimp will reach 300,000 tons in 2005, up from an estimated 250,000 tons in 2004.
Kitono lauded the government policy banning shrimp import as it will boost domestic production.
