Weak trend prevails in China vitamin C market

Prices of vitamin C dipped further during the period in review.

Trade was slow with aquaculture production in its seasonal lull and feed millers not eager to accumulate stocks in view of weak vitamin C prices amid abundant output.

Prices of feed- and food-grade vitamin C were unchanged at RMB23/kg. Ex-factory quotes for coated ascorbic acid were lower in the range of RMB27-28/kg.

Domestic demand for vitamin C is unlikely to increase in the coming period. With supplies in excess, China's vitamin C market is expected to remain soft.
