Kazakhstan's 2011 grain yield rises
The Kazakh Statistics Agency reported on Friday (Dec 30) that the country's 2011 level of most crop yields record a significant increase.
As much as 269,605,000 tonnes of grain crops and legumes were harvested in the republic, 227,321,000 tonnes, that is 84.3% of which was wheat. The potato crop was 28,500,000 tonnes, vegetables on open ground - 2,850,000 tonnes and oilseeds, 114,900 tonnes, the Agency's statement said. A 29% of grain crops and legumes grew on North Kazakhstan and Kostanay provinces with 25% on the Akmola province. The largest vegetable crop on open ground was gathered in South Kazakhstan, 25.5% from the republic's crop of potatoes in Almaty (19.5%) and a sunflower crop in East Kazakhstan (51.6%).
