Indonesia's broiler imports soar on-year
Indonesia's imports of grand-parent stock (GPS) and parent stock (PS) broiler in 2011 jumped high enough compared with the previous year, according to the data released by Directorate General of Livestock & Animal Health (DGLA).
From January to September 2011, GPS and PS broiler imports were 434,240 heads and 498,111 heads, respectively. In the same period in 2010, the imports were 402,414 heads of GPS and 56,440 heads of PS.
Director of animal breeding of DGLA, Abubakar said that the development of the poultry industry has made the imports of broiler GPS and PS surge. Currently there are 11 companies that import GPS and 34 companies that import PS.
