Company develops insurance policy for cattle
Nico Insurance Company announced a livestock policy to help cattle farmers in particular in protecting their herds.
Ronald Zake, managing director, said that the cover is in response to the needs of cattle keepers, who have long been left out despite the various natural and unnatural risks they face.
Zake said the policy covers livestock deaths, illness and accidents.
Furthermore, it also covers emergency cases like mass slaughters, which may be due to highly-contagious epidemics like foot and mouth disease.
The company said that to ensure proper coverage, the insured animals should be marked or branded so that they are easily identified.
