Ukraine poultry farmers anticipate 33 percent production growth in 2008
Ukraine's union of poultry farmers expects meat production to reach 220,000 to 250,000 tonnes this year, up by 28 to 33 percent from 2007.
Oleksandr Bakumenko, CEO of the union, noted that poultry production last year would total 750,000 to 780,000 tonnes and 1 million tonnes this year.
Ukraine has presently been negotiating with other states for poultry exports. Some agreement has been reached with Kazakhstan, Belarus.
The country is eyeing to infiltrate the vast EU and Russian markets.
The union further predicts that poultry would be pricier this year by 10 to 15 percent compared to last year.
