China Food Industries Obtains Pork Export Approval To Singapore

China Food Industries Ltd. announced on Friday that its China unit has obtained approval to export frozen pork to Singapore.

The Singapore-based food supplier, whose operations include rearing pigs and producing pork products, said its wholly-owned China unit Junan Hengxing Foodstuff Co. Ltd. has been granted approval by the Agri-Food and Veterinary Authority of Singapore to export frozen pork from China.

The company, which listed in Singapore last September, will introduce its pork brand here in the first quarter of this year, before launching it in China and Hong Kong.

"We understand that there is very strong demand for frozen pork in Singapore, with more than 70% of the pork consumption in Singapore being frozen pork," said Managing Director Lim Seck Yeow.

A significant proportion of the pork consumed in Singapore is imported chilled from Australia.
