China Soybean Imports Up 87%

 

China, the world's largest soybean importer, imported 780,000 tons of soybean in November, pushing the total import figures to 19.18 million tons, an 87% year-on-year increase,  the latest custom statistics show. In the first ten months, total soybean import was only 18.4 million tons.

 

In order to meet the demand of the oil pressing industry, China's soybean import is expected to top 20 million tons in 2003, experts predict.
