Philippine production of pork and chicken will decline this year due to the effects of African swine fever and weak demand resulting from the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The government of Assam, India, will attempt to control the spread of African swine fever (ASF) by culling about 10,000 pigs from the first week of September.
The Philippines' meat imports in the first half of the year dropped slightly to 403,348.102 tonnes from 406,008.874 tonnes on-year, as pork imports plunged 41%, the latest Bureau of Animal Industry (BAI) data showed, BusinessMirror reported.
