South Korea to enter marine development agreement with Uruguay

Uruguay and South Korea are to enter into a new agreement on the development of marine resources.

The deal was signed in Seoul in October on the visit of President Tabare Vazquez of Uruguay to South Korea.

The two countries plan to share information and knowledge regarding to the fish farming and fishing industry, which includes artificial cultivation of fish and the latest technology.

The port of Monte Video, located on the Uruguay's eastern coast, is used as a refuelling centre for about 50 South Korean fishing vessels operating near the Falkland Islands and the Antarctic Ocean.

Under the new agreement, South Korean vessels can get fresh supplies, unload catches, and refuel.
