Hong Kong resumes live poultry imports from China

Hong Kong on Monday (Dec 29) has resumed imports of live poultry from China, after a 21-day suspension due to bird flu.

Hong Kong authorities allowed imports to resume as there were no new outbreaks, said the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine (GAQSIQ).

Hong Kong imported about 7,000 chickens and 10,000 chicks from China on Monday morning, said the GAQSIQ.

Quality supervisors have strengthened quarantine and border checks on live poultry supplied to Hong Kong, and are closely monitoring the local market situation, said the GAQSIQ.
